Mary Magdalene speaks: Don't give your authority away — not even to me.

2 weeks ago, I journeyed deep into South of France country and the rich Cathar history with my guide-turned-soul sister, the magical Natalia Dunne.
It started from my calling from Mary Magdalene that spanned over years. Her hints weren't subtle ever since I returned from my first visit to the South of France region in 2019.
Returning back to Melbourne Australia, I knew I needed answers to questions I had no idea how to articulate. I knew I would come back here one day, to this land, to remember, when the time was right. And to heal the trauma I still felt from 700 years ago, in my past life as a Cathar.
Mary Magdalene answered. First in subtle hints: books dropping in, name drops, synchronicity... it was pretty obvious! And then into my field, pops Natalia. Out of all the wonderful and knowledgeable guides, I knew my resonance with her was unmistakable.
I booked a private retreat with Nat, knowing my journey was specific and I needed to pace it to whatever needed to unfold - less structured days, more intuition and MM leading the way. And boy, did she lead.
Day 1 of our retreat, Nat guides me to a beautiful chapel with a serene statue of Mary Magdalene and intuitively leaves me to connect. As she walks away, I can see a kneeling pad and growing up indoctrinated as a Catholic, I guess it was just habit to kneel in front of statues and pray.
The moment my knees touch the kneeling pad, a voice, clear and firm tells me to "Stand Up."
It's not meek, and it certainly isn't mild like the image of MM depicted in the statue. Ironically, the statue is depicting MM kneeling. I stand up and she continues to speak.
"Do not kneel.
Do not idolize my name.
Do not worship my image.
Understand me."
Short, succinct and full of meaning that I'm still integrating a fortnight later. This message I receive from her sets the tone for the days coming.
MM never wanted to be put on a pedestal, never wanted to be worshipped or idolised. She reminded me to see past her name. See past her image. Instead, focus on understanding her message. Understand what she taught. What she embodied.
She reminds me, and all of us, in our journey to her and through her, to remember our Truth. Do not be distracted by the irrelevant details - she specifically uses the example of where she was buried, and teaches that her body was a temporary form, served its function, for us to let it go and our fascination with it.
Focus on understanding Her. Mary’s instruction wasn't:
Become like me.
It was: Understand me.
I wasn't being asked to imitate a figure, adopt an identity, collect more information about her, or construct another spiritual ideal that you needed to measure myself against.
I was being directed toward the essence beneath the form.
What did she embody?
What did she understand?
What was she pointing toward?
And then perhaps the deeper invitation was:
Where does that already live in me?
Maybe healing isn't necessarily about continually adding something to ourselves. What if it is the process of removing the noise, conditioning, fear, inherited beliefs and protective patterns that obscure what was already there.
Don't confuse the container for the teaching.
Rather than becoming endlessly absorbed in the story surrounding an experience, why don't we become curious about what is happening within us now.
What is this activating?
What am I feeling?
What pattern is arising?
What is my body communicating?
What remains when the noise settles?
What is the wisest action available to me now?
I didn't understand it fully then, but now I later I can see how deeply this moment (and others) have shaped what I now call Inner Coherence. The instruction wasn't to follow another person more faithfully. It was to stop surrendering my inner authority—even to the people or figures I revered.
To listen.
To discern.
To understand.
And ultimately, to embody.
This spiritual figurem who I had travelled halfway across the world seeking did not, in my experience, ask for devotion.
She told me to stand up.
To become quiet enough to hear myself.
Regulated enough to discern clearly.
Grounded enough not to abandon myself.
And courageous enough to live what I know.
I'm so deeply grateful to MM for her guidance along my journey, and Natalia, for being the guide, frequency holder, mirror, channel and so much more .. in supporting exactly what needed to unfold for me. My heart is so full in this magical land.
